Across seven years of Microsoft’s Surface experiment in designing and selling hardware, the company still hasn’t found a breakout hit product. It now offers more products than ever—six major product lines, compared to the two it started with at the end of 2012. Yet its revenues have barely budged across the last decade. This quarter, Surface sales fell 4 percent over the year-ago quarter.
Coming not so shortly: a new helping of either Star Wars or Avatar for every Christmas between 2021 and 2027. Disney’s latest release schedule also promises eight more Marvel comic-book adaptations by 2022. Meanwhile, this year will see the spawn of not just behemoths such as Avengers, X-Men, Frozen, Toy Story, Spider-Man, The Lego Movie and Star Wars, but also less obvious franchise-launchers such as Godzilla, Men in Black, Shaun the Sheep, Angry Birds, Kingsman, Zombieland, Shaft and even Rambo. Never before have film sequels been so many and so varied.
In fact, if you didn’t look at the EXIF data you probably wouldn’t be able to tell. This is just one of the many features of the mobile web.
To that end, I really wonder why a company like Sony decided to neglect a ton of its own innovation. This comment is specifically pointed at killing their Sony Play Memories apps. For what they charge for cameras, I don’t fully comprehend why they didn’t push those features into all their cameras.
